I heard a voice floating across the Commodore Barry Park in Brooklyn, coming from the main stage at this year’s Afropunk Festival. I was immediately captivated and had to know who this singer was. It was the beautiful Valerie June. After her set I had to practically blag my way backstage to talk to her, I just had to know everything about this woman (the interview is coming soon I promise)!
Since coming back home to London, I’ve purchased her albumPushing Against a Stone and I just can’t get enough of it and particularly the song, Twined and Twisted. To say that it’s on repeat would be an understatement. I’m considering limiting the amount of times I listen to it in one day, just in case I end up ruining it for myself….. Nah, that’ll never happen, not with this song!! *Presses play*
