Before we get into it though, if you’re a Eurovision fan and you haven’t watched my reaction series where I give my first impression of all the songs to be entered into the competition – stop what you’re doing and go watch them now! Now for those of you who are familiar with my work on Eurovision – welcome! Come in and take a load off!!
You’ll already know that last year (2017) was the first time I looked at ALL the songs in the Eurovision, not just some of them as I had been doing since 2014. You’ll also know that by public demand, last year I ranked all the songs from my least favourite to my favourtie, culminating of course with my number one song being, Amar Pelos Dois by Salvador Sobral. What if I told you that through some kind of super brain power, it was actually an exercise in my predicting Salvador’s win?! But can I do it again I hear you ask?!

Whilst putting together my 2017 Eurovision list, I found it to be a really difficult task. How is it possible to rank songs that are so different in genre and even in language? How can I justify placing a song I genuinely liked in the 20’s or even 30’s on my list? I found that there was certain things I loved about a song but because of the restrictive nature of list making – I couldn’t articulate it. I wanted to give shout outs to songs that nailed a key change or an artist that gave great vocals but didn’t necessarily have a good song.
So that’s when I first started thinking about creating what shall hence forth be known as…
‘Tuneful TV Eurovision Awards!!’

Tuneful TV Eurovision Awards is where we can take a moment to appreciate the huge effort each country/artist/creative team has put into making their entry to the Eurovision each year. Have you ever wanted to recognise an artist for their staging? Well here’s your chance to!
Given that this is the first time I’m doing something like this, lets start off small and if it’s successful, we can look to expand the categories next year… (for example we’ll definitely need a “Standout Performance / Slay” award and even a “Best Key Change” award!)
